Day 11, LOAD 515

WOW, 11 days under my belt, and although I'm still really sick (breathing is hard), I've not missed one day yet... a little bit proud of that even if I do say so myself.

Today's prompt was "your song"... and it might surprise you that I didn't pick an Alice song!! I actually picked a song from 1967 - the year my amazing husband was born, that brings me a smile whenever I hear it. It's by The Turtles and it's called So Happy Together. I dare you to listen and not tap your foot!!

So here is my layout... I had a blast using this kt as I am super obsessed with Bee's of late... I know weird, right?

Hope you have a great Scrappy day, until tomorrow,

Day 10, LOAD 515

Happy Mother's Day to all the mums (including those who take the role of mum)... I hope your day was filled with spoils...

Now, let me count the ways I loved this prompt tonight... so many, many ways! The prompt was "personal favourite, album art". I knew almost straight away what I wanted to do, however how to do it was another story! My inspiration was from my first ever Alice Cooper album, Welcome To My Nightmare (which is also the reason I got into Alice). As you can see, it's a great album cover and just screams to be scrapped!!

I kept the concept a bit simpler, and the colour scheme similar, but maybe more bold. I had to scrap a photo of my daughter Larissa (or as she is known to the world, Ninja Riz) and was a great opportunity to brag about how proud we are of what she has become... she didn't have the easiest time of it, but she came through the other side and her father and I are as proud as punch as to what she had achieved.

Hope you have a great Scrappy day, until tomorrow,

Day 9, LOAD 515

Today's prompt was Mis-Heard, scrapbook your own misunderstanding or scrapbook a dispute or battle instead. How do you solve a disagreement? Oh, this is a loaded gun for me right now... no photos, just pure story, 6 x 12 page for my "about me" album. I'm glad to get the story down. We can't learn from mistakes if we brush them under the carpet, getting it down was also great therapy!

Now I'm off to have a cry and cleanse my feelings.
Hope you have a great Scrappy day, until tomorrow,

Day 8, LOAD 515

Today's prompt was "hip-hop"... well I had no idea where to go with this. Do I do an Easter layout like the example? Do I try and do a twist on the prompt? Do I go off prompt? I was confused and stuck!

So, whenever I get stuck I throw Spotify on and listen to some tunes to take my mind off of things for a bit and then maybe something will just come to me. No sooner had I opened my Spotify than I realized I should just go with the obvious! So I checked out what artists in my many playlists where known as "hip-hop", and then this layout just unfolded.

Hope you have a great Scrappy day, until tomorrow,

Day 7, LOAD 515

Well, that is the first week under my belt.. what a blast!

Today's prompt was audience participation, what was your favourite concert?

Well doh!! Anyone who knows me would know it would have to be an Alice Concert... but instead of sharing photos of the concert itself, I thought I would go with something that happened right before the concert, when Paul and I met up with some friends (and fellow Alice fans) and got our "Alice" eyes on before we left... such fun!

Hope you have a great Scrappy day, until tomorrow,

Day 6, LOAD 515

Today's prompt of Olivia Newton John could of taken me in so many different directions. I decided to flip through my photos and see what grabbed me today. This photo of Paul and I coming home from Naracoorte last year jumped out at me, and made me realize that despite so much we're still together, still in love and only have eyes for each other. It reminded me how much we belong, and the of course the song "You're the one that I want" started swimming in my head. We both at the beginning were prepared to change a little so the other one would be more interested, and then just like in the movie, discovered it was the person we were that the other was more interested in.

Hope you have a great Scrappy day, until tomorrow,

05 May 2015

Day 5, LOAD 515

I cannot believe it's day 5 already, that is almost the first week gone? Maybe I'm more delirious with this flue than I first thought?

Today's prompt was (I think?) a list of summer activities.. to be honest I was a big vague about it all, but that is what I decided to go with. So with the help of my 11 year old son Peter, we made a list of all the fun things we enjoyed when we went to the beach. As we don't live anywhere near a beach, it's a special time for us.

Hope you have a great Scrappy day, until tomorrow,

Day 4, LOAD 515

Today's prompt was Lyrics!

A few LOAD's ago now, I really cannot remember how many it is to be honest, Lain introduced me to Sugarland (I'd never heard of them before then) and I was hooked on the song "stuck like glue" the lyrics could of just been written for Paul and I! I know I've used this title before on a LO, maybe more than once, but with a song this good, you'd be mad not to scrap it again and again and again! (lyrics below)

MMMM better...MMMM better...
Absolutely no one that knows me better
No one that can make me feel sooo goooood
How did we stay so long together?
When everybody, everybody said we never would
And just when I, I start to think they're right
That love has died...

Chorus:
There you go making my heart beat again,
heart beat again,
heart beat again
There you go making me feel like a kid
Won't you do it and do it one time?
There you go pulling me right back in,
right back in,
right back in
And i know-oo I'm never letting this go-ooo

I'm stuck on you
Whutooo whutooo
Stuck like glue
You and me baby we're stuck like glue
Whutooo whutooo
Stuck like glue
You and me baby we're stuck like glue

Some days I don't feel like trying
Some days you know I wanna just give up
When it doesn't matter who's right, fight about it all night
Had enough
You give me that look
"I'm sorry baby let's make up"
You do that thing that makes me laugh
And just like that...

Chorus:
There you go making my heart beat again,
heart beat again,
heart beat again
There you go making me feel like a kid
Won't you do it and do it one time
There you go pulling me right back in,
right back in,
right back in
And i know-oo I'm never letting this go-ooo

I'm stuck on you
Whutooo whutooo
Stuck like glue
You and me baby we're stuck like glue
Whutooo whutooo
Stuck like glue
You and me baby were stuck like glue

Whutooo Whutoo

You almost stay out, too stuck together from the ATL
Whutooo Whutoo
Feeling kinda sick?
Just a spoon full of sugar make it better real quick

I say
Whutooo Whutoo
Whatcha gonna do with that?
Whutooo Whutoo
Come on over here with that
Sugar sticky sweet stuff
Come on give me that stuff
Everybody wants some
melodies that get stuck

Up in your head
whutooo whutooo

Up in your head
whutooo whutooo

Up in your head
whutooo whutooo

Up in your head
whutooo whutooo
whuthoo whutooo
Stuck like glue
You and me together, say, it's all I wanna do
I said

Chorus:
There you go making my heart beat again,
heart beat again,
heart beat again
There you go making me feel like a kid
Won't you do it and do it one time
There you go pulling me right back in,
right back in,
right back in
And i know-oo I'm never letting this go-ooo

There you go making my heart beat again,
heart beat again,
heart beat again
There you go making me feel like a kid
Won't you do it and do it one time
There you go pulling me right back in,
right back in,
right back in
And i know-oo I'm never letting this go-ooo
I'm stuck on you

Whutooo whutooo
Stuck like glue
You and me baby we're stuck like glue
Whutooo whutooo
Stuck like glue
You and me baby were stuck like glue
Whutooo whutooo
stuck like glue
you and me baby we're stuck like glue

Hope you have a great Scrappy day, until tomorrow,

Day 3, LOAD 515

WOW, 3 days in a row... this is some kind of record I'm sure?

Anyway, today's prompt was "white on white", and although it's not strictly quite white on white, it is very neutral none the less. I had a blast doing this, I wanted to keep the page very open (lots of white space) and free from "clutter" so that the photos shined.

Hope you have a great Scrappy day, until tomorrow,

02 May 2015

Day 2, LOAD 515

Look at me keeping up (so far)... I think I may of just jinxed myself, anyway...

DAY 2!! Prompt was to scrap about who you actually dedicate your scrapbooks to. As I've never done a dedication page, ever, I was a bit lost... at the end of the day though, I'm more than happy with how my layout turned out. I do however have decided I'm in urgent need of a new family photo. Hopefully I can fix this problem in the not to distance future.

Hope you have a great Scrappy day, until tomorrow,

LOAD 515 - Musical Mayhem!

Yes, it's that time of year again... it's time for LOAD (Layout A Day) for May 2015. I will en-devour to upload my layout's each day, but as I'm still sick I may fall behind and you might end up with one post with several layouts on it. I apologize in advance.
If you would like to learn more about LOAD and the amazing Lain Ehmann who organizes it, click the button below and it will take you to her blog.
Ok, so the theme for May is Musical Mayhem! Exciting yes?
Day one was to scrap about a favourite type of music, so here, I celebrate Alice! I had a blast doing this, and am excited to be scrapbooking again, it feels like forever - actually it was just in February, during last LOAD, but you know.. time flies..
Hope you have a great Scrappy day, until tomorrow,

30 April 2015

Typical!

It's just my luck, I decide to make a new blog, and be good about keeping it up this time, and then I get sick! And not just any sick, really, really, REALLY SICK! Like I am dying here guys.... well ok, that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but it sure feels like it.

I have a few new goodies I want to show off and give you my opinions on, and I am working on a tutorial as well... so please don't give up on me just yet.

Anyway, I must go and cough up my lungs one more time, and dose myself up so I can shake this stupid thing and get back to daily life!

I hope you're having a much better day, until next time

Am I An Artist?

Well when I think of an "artist" I think of those that either paint or sculpt... neither of which I do. But I do think I make art... so I guess then the answer is YES!

  • I am a life artist, I make art from my life by Scrapbooking and participating in Project Life.
  • I am a trading artist, I make ATC's and enjoy swapping with my friends.
  • I am a card artist, I hand-make all my greeting cards and share them with those I love.
  • I am a stamping artist, I enjoy stamping and colouring and not always just to put on a layout or card, but simply for the "fun of it".
  • I am a zen artist, I love to Zentangle or Zendoodle and spend many hours making pages that I can use in my other art.
  • I am a journal artist, I adore to Art Journal and put my thoughts onto paper.
  • I am a digital artist, I make digital layouts and also play making banners for my social networks.
  • I am a recycled artist, I like to find new ways to use old treasures and items we might otherwise throw away.
  • I am a fiber artist, I knit, I cross-stitch, I weave, I embroider (although not as much as I would like).
  • I am a collage artist, I love to cut and paste and make beautiful things.
  • I am an ARTIST!

I'm curious, what kind of artist are you?

YouTube Inspiration

I get asked a lot who I would recommend for a first timer to watch on YouTube. It's a great question, the problem is I'm into so many different things it can also be a hard one to answer. I'm going to give it a shot however. So for my very first post I'm going to share with you my top 5 "Paper Crafting" YouTube Channels that I feel are a must have in your subscription lists.... in no particular order...

  1. MercyTiara (Tracy)

I am hooked.. there really isn't much else to say than that. Tracy does some amazing things on her channel, my favourite of which is her process videos. She is a design team member for the Scraptastic Club and not only does she share each month what comes in the Scraptastic kits, but she will show you some of the amazing layouts she can get from just one kit.

She has a series of Craft Room videos as well, and updates these whenever something changes. It's fun to see how someone stores their products (I'm not opposed to some scraproom porn, that's for sure) and I've picked up quite a few tips from these. You can view that playlist here - My Scraproom.

She is also a much loved regular on The Paperclipping Roundtable.

She also does the occasional planner video (hello fellow Erin Condren Life Planner lover!)

I am somewhat prone to hunting out her video's first before scrolling through the rest of my subscription list. If you would like to visit Tracy, you can also find her at her blog - MercyTiara

  2. Victoria Marie (Victoria)

This gal makes me laugh... I'm talking laugh out loud, tears running down my leg laugh! I met her through the Scraptastic Facebook Group and I am so grateful she started doing videos. She is down to earth, honest and an all round beautiful person. If we lived in the same country I'd totally be her BFF and drive her crazy coming over all the time.

She does mainly process video's and her work is stunning. I am always truly inspired after watching her videos and she never disappoints.

She has a Facebook Group called Victoria Marie FB Group where I can get lost for hours just in awe of all the talent and inspiration her members share.

  3. Craftybit (Marika)

Marika is just the sweetest person you can ever hope to call a friend. She does the most amazing colouring and makes some simply incredible cards.

I've been fortunate enough to win a few of Marika's cards and I hang them pride of place on my inspiration board. They always make me smile to just look up and see a bit of her shining down on me.

If you would rather visit Marika at her blog and spend hours being totally absorbed into her greatness you can visit her here - Craftybit Creations

  4. Robin Voak (Robin)

For the life of me I cannot remember what Robin's channel was called before she changed it to her name, I think it had Nursing in the title somewhere? Robin is a fun loving mother of 3 who shares her passion through her process video's. Again she works with a lot of Scraptastic Kits and has a fun and friendly approach. I always come away feeling like "I could do that!" which is something I look for in my YouTubers. Some really intimidate me and I feel I'm not good enough or could never achieve the techniques that they're sharing. You won't get that with Robin.

You will also feel more like your a having a cuppa with a good friend than just watching a process video as she talks about her nursing and her family! She's comfortable and relaxed and hilarious! I've laughed and I've cried with Robin, and I just know you will love to watch her next crazy scrapping adventure.

Last, but definitely not least is

  5. Creationsceecee (Catherine)

Entertaining doesn't even cover it! Her "chitchats" are fun to watch, her studio is just amazing (you can see a tour of that here - Art Studio Tour 2014) and her mixed media.... just WOW!

She has a blog that is updated so often that you will never be left wanting more - CeeCee's Creations as well as she does teaching videos for  Scrapbookcentrale and if all that wasn't enough she is also part of Donna Downey Studios Artist Gang
Are you exhausted yet?

Of course there are many, many more amazing YouTubers and I wish I could list them all, but at almost 1000 subscriptions (last count was 998) it would take a month of Sunday's and I could fill just one blog on the subject. I will however re-visit this at a later date and pick another "interest" of mine to list who I watch so stay tuned.

Did I miss your favourite YouTuber? Share in the comments as I'm always after new and exciting people to watch!!

Thanks for joining me on my first blog post for ChelleBB.

Have a wonderful day...
